Timeless elegance, rooted in heritage.

Tiraz is a brand that honours the rich heritage of Lucknow, reflected in the classic, timeless elegance of Chikankari. At Tiraz we offer premium and exclusive Chikankari garments on finest fabrics.

From Chikan kurtis and sarees to unstitched suit materials, every piece reflects royal sophistication, craftsmanship and the cultural identity of Lucknow.

01 About TIRAZ +

Tiraz is an online store based in Lucknow. We deal in both wholesale and retail, offering Chikan kurtis, Chikan sarees, and Chikankari unstitched suit materials for ladies.

Each of our garments reflects royal sophistication and style. It blends the centuries-old art of Chikankari, a delicate, intricate and traditional hand-embroidery technique, with modern silhouettes.

The embroidery is done with threads on fine and soft materials like pure Mulchanderi, cotton, georgette and silk. Our fabrics are breathable, eco-friendly and of the highest quality.

The word β€˜Tiraz’ is derived from the Persian word taraz/teraz, meaning embroidery. It refers to an embroidered fabric associated with royal garments and became a mark of honour and prestige.

02 Our Vision +

Chikankari has been practiced in and around the city of Lucknow for almost 200 years. It is a Persian craft, brought to the Mughal court of emperor Jahangir by his wife Noor Jahan.

Thus, this ethereal white floral embroidery received royal patronage and recognition. When the Mughal court disintegrated, some craftsmen came and settled in Lucknow, bringing their craft with them.

Here, the Nawabs of Awadh played a crucial role in promoting and preserving this art form.

Our vision is to preserve the rich cultural legacy of the art of Chikankari passed down through generations and give it a global platform.

Traditionally, sheer fabrics like cambric and muslin were used to embroider elaborate patterns of flowers, leaves, paisleys and symmetrical motifs, using white threads. Today, the embroidery is also done in multi-coloured threads with different combinations and contrasts.

Our aim is to make exclusive and premium Chikan wear and offer it at competitive prices, with no compromise on quality.

03 Our Mission +

Our main objective is to bring the most premium handcrafted Chikankari to your wardrobe from Lucknow. Keeping in mind changing times and the tastes of our valued customers, we deliver classic Chikankari in a contemporary mode.

Along with the popular whites, there is a wide range of colours, from solids to pastels, to suit different moods. Our products display the craftsmanship of our workers who skillfully combine different stitches on a single garment.

Chikankari uses thirty-two types of stitches, each with its own speciality. The beauty of these stitches is further enhanced by the addition of Aari-Zardozi and Kaamdaani work.

We also have special offerings for our Gen Z customers, giving them a reason to feel proud of their rich cultural heritage and connecting them to their roots. Our Chikan kurtis are ideal for college and office wear.

04 Artisan Support +

Our artisans work diligently on each piece for days on end to create a work of art. Their patience, skill and craftsmanship are at the heart of every TIRAZ creation.

We ensure that our artisans get their respective due. It is our sincere effort to contribute to their economic upliftment and help sustain the craft for future generations.

At TIRAZ, every purchase supports the continuation of traditional craftsmanship and the artisan families who keep the heritage of Lucknow alive.
